Storm Arwen heralded the last venture out into the garden this week but despite the conditions, we harvested a beautiful crop of lettuces and ginormous radishes. The glorious sunflowers of the summer also came out, which showed their community spirit earlier in the year by appearing from nowhere and delighting everyone with their beautiful blooms.
The garden suitably tidied up, we crossed over to visit Mitcham Community Orchard and Gardens’ open day and were warmly welcomed by familiar friendly faces. Being fruit tree novices and planning our first for the garden, we were encouraged to see so many local species thriving and even the last persimmons clinging onto their tree. Fully inspired we returned to our plans and look forward to getting them into action.
