The Canons Summer Garden Party

Updated: Mar 1, 2019

In June 2018, over 500 people attended the Canons Summer Garden Party which focused on heritage, health and well-being. We had many fun events on the day including heritage games, a smoothie bike, fruit kebabs, exercise challenges, inflatable sumo, inflatable slide and tennis.

Canons Leisure Centre provided a number of pieces of exercise equipment for attendees to try, while local students from Cranmer Primary School ran a series of games and activities for the attendees. Polka Theatre did a puppet-making workshop, and the photographs from the Canons in View project were on view in the Walled Garden. Sustainable Merton helped the children make potted plants and Cricket Green School students had a lemonade stand.

On our terrace stage, Liberty School choir performed, Merton Gymnastics Club did a demonstration, and the Wimbledon Community Theatre Trust did a performance on the lawn - all captivated our audience enjoying the sunny day. The Mayor of Merton presented a number of certificates to participants of the Canons in View project then we were treated to a solo steel pan performance.

Everyone had a fantastic day, and we look forward to our next party.

Thanks to our supporting partners: Merton Voluntary Service Council, Canons Better Leisure, Merton Council, and Mitcham Town Community Trust.
