Canons House & Grounds 

Canons House & Grounds is a £4.4 million project made possible thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund. The project is being undertaken by Merton Council with support from many community groups.

The project will run until September 2023 and includes both a major capital works project and a programme of community events and activities.

Cafe and park toilets

The new cafe and toilets are currently open at weekends 9am-3pm.  

Space within the cafe is available to hire. 

Running track

Walled garden

The walled garden has been restored with repairs to brickwork. The new planting scheme will be completed in summer 2023.

Canons House

Grade II* listed Canons House has been restored back to its former glory and will operate as a joint community and work space. 

Community Cafe

Historic running track 

The 1920s running track, former home of the Mitcham Athletics Club, has been restored and is free to use at any time.

Community garden 

The community garden is managed by a team of volunteers and local community groups, who use the space to grow fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Obelisk 

The obelisk, first constructed in 1822, has been repaired and the area surrounding it transformed into a new entrance to Canons House & Grounds. 

Play area

The new play area was created by Studio Hardie and co-designed with pupils and families from local schools. 

Community garden

Dovecote and pond 

The medieval dovecote and pond have been restored. ​
