About the event

About Writing for Wellbeing

Writing for Wellbeing is about going with the flow and writing your way.

Prompts and techniques encourage us to focus on ‘process not product’ and write freely without judgement or self-editing.

This can help us to reflect on our experiences and emotions, feel more confident about writing and find our own unique writing voice.

There is no right or wrong way to write. You are not required to share any of your writing with the group. Grammar, punctuation, neatness or speed are therefore not important.

Writing in Nature sessions

Just 15 minutes of writing a day, and 20 minutes of time outdoors in Nature, have each been proved to positively benefit our mental health and wellbeing.

Combining the two therefore makes perfect sense: many artists and writers over the centuries have found both inspiration and solace in Nature.

During ‘Writing in Nature’ sessions, we combine indoor writing prompts / exercises with a mindful walk around the beautiful grounds of Canons House to clear and calm our minds and inspire our writing.

Depending on the weather, we may also write while sitting in the tranquil walled garden of Canons House & Grounds.

What to bring:

Please bring a nice notebook (ideally A5 or A4) plus a pen or pencil (Paper & pen/pencil can be provided for anyone not able to supply their own).
